Discover what’s new at Sázava Monastery: Unforgettable tours that will leave you in awe

Visitors to Sázava Monastery can look forward to some exciting updates this year. It is the third oldest male monastery in the Czech Republic located by the Sázava River, and it will open its doors in April 2026. Throughout April, it will be open every weekend (including Easter Friday and Monday). This year at Sázava Monastery, guests can expect a new style of tours.
Included in the regular visitor route called “Svatoprokopská Sázava” will be two Gothic cellars and a completely new route aptly named “Up to the lookout neo-Renaissance tower”. This path will lead through the so-called abbey chapel into the rafters, showcasing fascinating historical technical elements, and guests will also stop by a found stone coat of arms belonging to the Neuberg family, who, as the lords of the manor, had neo-Renaissance modifications made to the former convent building in the 19th century.
Additionally, visitors can take a tour offered by the local Roman Catholic parish under the title Saint Procopius – the Czech Patron. During this pilgrimage site tour, you will see: a Gothic remnant of an unfinished cathedral, a restored and repaired church, a close look at the organ, and various previously inaccessible rooms that have been transformed into a gallery of St. Procopius with intriguing exhibits from the original monastery.
