Discover the Enchanting Easter Trail with Giant Eggs in Hluboká nad Vltavou

The charming town of Hluboká nad Vltavou is known for its collection of giant eggs. You can find many artistically designed Easter eggs on display until the end of April. Each year, this event brings in over 20,000 tourists. The highlight of the project is a gigantic, nearly 700-kilogram, concrete Easter egg, which has been beautifully painted by both professional artists and local schoolchildren. On the surface of some eggs, you can observe floral patterns, geometric designs related to Easter, enormous colorful butterflies, and even playful cats.
The idea of making large Easter eggs in Hluboká originated several years ago from the artist and designer Matouš Holý. His renowned works include set designs for popular films such as The Chronicles of Narnia, James Bond, Hart’s War, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, as well as unique architectural features in Dubai City. His workshop was also responsible for creating the moulds for the eggs, which are manufactured by the concrete company Mane.
A map that shows where all the eggs are located will be available starting on April 3, 2026, at Mrs. Olga Trčková’s bookshop on Zborovská Street,
at the Information Centre on Masarykova Street or at the Schneck restaurant, which is on the way to the castle. The Easter eggs map also includes a crossword puzzle to fill out using hints found directly on the giant eggs. You have the option to solve it on your own, or join the competition on April 3, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, where you can win prizes on the spinning wheel of fortune.
