Kick Off the Season at Malá Skála: The Jizera River Awaits!
Make sure you don’t miss the kickoff of the canoeing season – it’s the Opening of the Jizera at the Žlutá plovárna in Malá Skála! This exciting event is put together by Sundisk, a company that manages several places where you can rent boats and scooters along the Jizera river. On Saturday, April 18, 2026, the main focus of the event will be the symbolic opening of the river, welcoming everyone to enjoy the new season together.
A big highlight of the program is also a celebration of 30 years of the Žlutá plovárna, which is a place deeply connected with the Jizera river and the canoeing community. Visitors will get the chance to explore an exhibition showcasing its history, the changes it has gone through, and its most important moments.
Exciting events to anticipate include the Tamzpátky race – where participants go there by boat and then return on a scooter. Another thrilling competition is the Single Marathon – specially designed for skilled paddlers. This race will cover 35 km along the Jizera, starting from Malá Skála and ending in Mnichovo Hradiště.
The organizers advise visitors to park at the Malá Skála central car park since parking at the Žlutá plovárna will not be available. There will be fun activities for families with children, starting from 9 am.
