Discovering Eco-Friendly Brews in Beer City: Your Guide to Easter Delights in Plzeň

Easter special beers are extremely popular every year. You can taste these unique beers at the markets happening at Republic Square, which will be open until April 5, 2026. One of the featured options is a 12° beer from the Primátor brewery.

The Small Breweries Club has various green beers available. Here, you can try not only green lagers but also special green varieties such as APAs, IPAs, Sour Ales, or Pastry Sour Ales. At Purkmistr, they offer a delightful green beer that is light and refreshing, with a hint of herbal flavor.

Green beer can be found at many pubs, featuring the Green 10 from the Plasy Brewery or Zelený Chodovar. The Radouš Brewery in Druztová has an Easter 11 on offer, and The Barn Brewery presents the Green Coast 13.

Pivotéka stocks over a hundred types of beer

Easter at PivotékaAt the beer shop in the Brewery Museum, you can explore over a hundred specialty beers. This shop is located in the beautifully renovated reception area of the fascinating Brewery Museum in Pilsen.

Pivotéka, which opened in December 2021, is situated within the original 15th-century brewery building and is a creation of Plzeňský Prazdroj. It boasts nearly 140 different types of beer from more than 25 breweries throughout the Czech Republic. The selection includes everything from lagers to Ales, IPAs, stouts, and sour beers, including those aged in barrels that previously held various spirits. Along with an extensive variety of bottled and canned beers, you will also find themed books, stylish gifts, and tasting glasses. Right now, they have spring beers like Hody hody doprovody from the Zíchovec Brewery, a 13° beer from the Permon Brewery, Velikonoční poklad from the Antoš Brewery, and the Pomlázka pale lager from the Matuška Brewery. The beer shop is open every day from 10 am to 6 pm.

Beer for the Pope

Pilsner beer has once again made its way to the Vatican this year. Plzeňský Prazdroj is proudly continuing a tradition that dates back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Pope Leo XIII received Pilsner lager at the suggestion of his doctor . Bishop Tomáš Holub blessed the beer before it was sent to southern Europe. This year, a total of 2,026 bottles of Pilsner lager were dispatched to the Vatican. This marks the fifteenth time in recent history that an Easter delivery of beer has traveled from Pilsen to the Vatican.
