Discover the Finest in Glass and Costume Jewelry at the Jablonec 2026 Triennial

This year’s version of the Jablonec Triennial will be held at the main building of the State Museum of Glass and Jewellery located in Jablonec nad Nisou starting on 15 May 2026. The central exhibition of this event is a traditional showcase of the very best utility glass and costume jewellery that has appeared in the Czech market over the last three years, under the title Trends.Design.Production. A total of fifty companies, brands, and studios will present their products here .

This time around, you will see creations from glassmakers not only from the Czech Republic but also from Germany, Austria, and Slovakia, as long as they have introduced new and often innovative products to the Czech market. Curators make the selections for the companies, while the companies choose what specific items will be displayed. This truly reflects their current commercial offerings.

A five-member international committee, featuring experts from the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, and Spain, will award medals to the top products; these medals were crafted for the museum by the Jablonec College of Applied Arts. In addition, the public will also have a chance to award their own prize, and visitors will be able to vote for their favorites throughout the entire exhibition, which lasts until 20 September 2026.

In addition to the main exhibition, there are two other exhibitions that have opened: Borosilicate Glass, showcasing how Czech companies work with this increasingly popular material, and Journey to the Stars, located in the museum’s annex. Here, you will find artistic and design objects created by Dominika Petrtýlová, Johan Pertl, and Vlastimil Šenkýř, all well-known figures in the new generation of glass artists.

The permanent exhibition of Christmas decorations has been updated to feature three brand-new collections of Christmas decorations, which were developed during the 2nd edition of the International Symposium. These collections were collaboratively created by designer Veronika Velčovská Jiroušková along with DUV Christmas Decorations from Dvůr Králové nad Labem, Polish artist Kalina Bańka–Kulka and HAN Jičín, and designer Martin Jakobsen together with Slezská tvorba Opava.

The Triennial will wrap up on 21 October with an exhibition titled ‘Revize’, which will feature a blend of historical costume jewellery and modern design. Students from five universities in the Czech Republic and around the world have creatively transformed Art Nouveau and Art Deco costume jewellery from the museum’s collection into fashionable contemporary accessories. This exhibition will be on display until 12 September 2027.
