Princess Tours at Zákupy and Sychrov
At Zákupy Castle, there’s a special tour designed for younger guests called A Tour with a Princess. This 40-minute experience allows families with children to explore the route named ‘The Castle under Emperor Ferdinand the Good’ featuring a narrative crafted specifically for children up to 10 years of age. Throughout the tour, a guide dressed as a princess engages the children by sharing captivating stories about the castle’s history, its beautifully decorated rooms, and fascinating artifacts. These enchanting Zákupy tours with the princess are available during holidays every day except Mondays at 10.15 am, 11.45 am, 1.15 pm, and 2.15 pm. Admission fees are 200 CZK for adults, 60 CZK for kids under 17, and 160 CZK for students, senior citizens, and those holding ZTP and ZTP/P cards. After the tour, kids have the wonderful opportunity to take a photo with the princess.
Sychrov Castle also provides tours with the princess throughout the summer holidays, available every hour daily from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Upon arrival, families will be greeted in the courtyard by a princess, who will lead them through the staircase hall and the east wing of the castle. This tailored commentary lasts for 25 minutes and is completely aligned with the interests of young guests. At the end of their wonderful adventure, children can also capture a memory with a photo alongside the princess. Tickets cost a flat fee of 160 CZK.
Playful Castle in Náchod, Hrubý Rohozec for Children
Náchod Castle is hosting special tours for kids called ‘Playful Castle’ during the summer holidays. Children will gain a little insight into history while listening to a captivating fairy tale about Náchod Castle. These tours are offered from Tuesday to Sunday at 9.15 am, 10.15 am, 11.15 am, 1.15 pm, 2.15 pm, 3.15 pm, and 4.15 pm. The entry fee is a flat rate of 100 CZK.
A short tour specifically designed for kids is also available at Hrubý Rohozec Castle, where a local guide will lead both parents and children through the most engaging spaces, adjusting the commentary based on the children’s ages. This entertaining tour lasts approximately 20–25 minutes and aims to provide a delightful experience. The route includes two castle libraries, the dining room, and the children’s and guest rooms. This particular tour is tailored for kids aged 3 to 7 and costs 100 CZK. Tours run from June to August at 11:10, 12:10, 1:10, and 2:10 from Tuesday to Sunday. It’s important to note that bookings should be made 24 hours in advance.
Life at Frýdlant
A tour suitable for even the youngest visitors is available at the state castle and chateau in Frýdlant. This experience includes several rooms where kids can see how people lived and managed their homes in the past. Young visitors will get a clear and engaging understanding of daily life at Frýdlant Castle, the customs people practiced here, mealtime traditions, the duties of the lord of the castle, how his children spent their time, and even how the castle was heated. Children will encounter the unique pet of the last owner’s daughters, ascend the grand staircase, and visit the private rooms that were once inhabited by the estate’s final owner. The tour culminates in the children’s room, where they can admire the toys that belonged to the castle kids. Admission is 120 CZK for adults, 40 CZK for kids, and 100 CZK for senior citizens, students, and holders of ZTP and ZTP/P cards. Children’s tours have been underway since May during weekends, and from June onwards, they happen every day except Tuesdays.
To Velhartice for the White Lady, to Loučeň for the Princess
An unforgettable tour at the Gothic castle of Velhartice with the White Lady is offered during the holidays on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 10.30 am and 11.30 am. Attendees will explore what life was like in the days of Bušek of Velhartice, discovering details about medieval meals, entertainment, and the lifestyles of both adults and children. The tour includes a visit to the unique stone bridge and the Putna defense tower, where visitors can even take home a small piece of the royal treasure. The admission fee is a flat rate of 120 CZK.
At Loučeň Castle, children’s tours with Princess Marie, Princess Karolina, or the castle butler take place every Saturday, with daily visits available during the holidays. Kids will have the fun opportunity to sing in the music salon where Bedřich Smetana performed, sit at the princely dining table, search for a lost kitten from the prince’s bedroom and so much more. Ticket prices are set at 295 CZK for adults and 210 CZK for children.
To Visit the Countess at Hrádek u Nechanic and the Count at Grabštejn
At Hrádek u Nechanic, special activities for children include purchasing activity sheets for just 20 CZK. During the summer holidays, they also organize tours with the Countess. In these engaging sessions, children explore life in a 19th-century summer hunting lodge in a playful manner; these tours are suitable for kids aged 4 and older. Adults may only join if they accompany children; advanced booking is recommended at 495 441 244.
Grabštejn Castle offers a playful tour with the Count, where kids help find the key to a treasure chest. Each child receives a worksheet with their ticket to use during the tour. Starting in April, these tours occur on weekends. During holidays, tours happen daily except Mondays. The entry fee is a flat rate of 60 CZK, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
Ohnivec at Bouzov Castle for the Little Ones
Bouzov Castle has created a fun-filled trail featuring Ohnivec, aimed at the youngest preschool-aged children.
The character Ohnivec comes from a local tale, depicted as an evil steward of the castle. The tour visits various remarkable spots including the old office, staircase hall, grand master’s bedroom, grand master’s study, hunting hall, knights’ hall, chapter hall, chapel, and armory. These tours are available from May onwards on weekends and daily throughout the summer holidays at 11.30 am, 1 pm, and 3.30 pm. Ticket prices are set at 300 CZK for adults, 90 CZK for kids under 17, and 240 CZK for students, senior citizens, and ZTP and ZTP/P cardholders.
New Features Following the Renovation in Litomyšl Also Enjoyed by Children
For visitors with limited time who wish to experience Litomyšl Castle, or for families with young kids, the castle administration has organized special short tours called ‘Summer Interlude’. While these aren’t available this year, the castle suggests trying out the new third route named News Following the Renovation, which lasts about 30 minutes and is known to be enjoyed by even small children based on feedback from guides.
Other Castles, Ruins, and Chateaux Also Cater to Kids
At Bezděz, a game called ‘The Treasure of Prince Václav’ allows children to hunt for hidden chests (worksheets cost 20 CZK); selected dates also feature fencing competitions. A special fencing weekend called ‘One Land, One King’ will occur on 6 and 7 June 2026, created especially for children.
Worksheets are also available at Trosky – schoolchildren receive a pencil for filling out the worksheets, while preschoolers complete tasks using stickers. The cost is 30 CZK. Similarly, Kuks offers an adventure map for 20 CZK.
At Kunětická hora, a friendly dragon waits for children in the castle palace — the exhibitions are enhanced with captivating sound effects, allowing children to imagine they are right in the midst of a feast, a hunt, or a battle. Kids might also be delighted by the model horses displayed.
In Děčín, during a regular tour, kids can enjoy Colouring Around the Castle by filling out a booklet or playing in the outdoor space designed for The Little Adventurer’s Journey.
Slatiňany Castle introduces a game called Greetings from the Road this year. In the garden, there are 18 postcards from various European nations that Princess Charlotte of Auersperg received around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. During this game, families will learn about the castle family, improve their geography, and solve a puzzle.
