During a leisurely walk in May through the Wallachian village at the Rožnov open-air museum, called Spring in the Village, you will encounter friendly housewives and farmers eager to welcome you into their cottages. Here, you can observe various traditional activities that have mostly faded away from our daily lives, such as shaving wooden shingles, braiding ropes, binding birch brooms, and weaving straw baskets. You will also get the chance to see blacksmithing, milling, sheep shearing, processing sheep’s wool, bleaching laundry, and herbalism. Be sure to stop by the kitchen, where butter will be freshly churned,
In the cozy cottages and farmhouses of the Wallachian village, skilled artisans will be present from 9 am to 5 pm. Farmers will be busy crafting wooden tools and weaving wicker baskets. In the kitchens, you can watch the butter churning, as well as witness the baking of pagáčky and the preparation of dishes made from fresh spring ingredients. This year, visitors will have the opportunity to taste šrotové pagáčky, freshly churned butter, žinčica, and other traditional spring dishes made using age-old recipes.
Among the talented artisans showcasing their skills in the village will be millers, basket weavers, blacksmiths, and broom makers. Fun traditional children’s games have been arranged for kids to enjoy. The schedule will also feature a guided tour of the newly developed Kolibiska site from 10.30 am to 11.30 am. Adding to the atmosphere, the band Ruky na dudy will perform music, and the singing group BLAženky will entertain with their songs.
