Join the South Bohemian Museum in České Budějovice for an Unforgettable Museum Night

Museum Night at the South Bohemian Museum will kick off at 5.00 pm in front of the museum’s main entrance located on the Senovážné náměstí side, which is near the large parking area. Shortly after the event starts, you’ll see a brand new acrobatic performance called Robinson, presented by the Chůdadlo troupe. This modern circus act features an exciting mix of dance and outstanding aerial acrobatics using a scarf, along with graceful partner acrobatics. Another aerial show named Romeo and Juliet will also be performed by a group of traveling jugglers and circus artists. This will include funny juggling routines intertwined with scenes from the famous tragedy of Romeo and Juliet.
The traveling NAVĚTVI Theatre will put on a show that will entertain not just children, featuring an interactive performance titled From the Attic, Haram Races. This act gives life to objects that seem lifeless. Additionally, you can look forward to two classic collections of fables from the ancient storyteller, presented in a travel-friendly way, as part of the performance called Mr Aesop’s Menagerie.
The museum’s lecture hall will host three lectures presented by archaeologists from the South Bohemian Museum. Kamila Pokorná will share insights from archaeological research from start to finish and demonstrate the equipment used in the field. Meanwhile, Zuzana Thomová will transport the audience back to the Middle Ages to explore ancient stories about people and locations. Lastly, Ondřej Chvojka will discuss findings from archaeological digs carried out during the construction of the D4 highway.
The Education Department will organize family archaeological workshops, including a fun, interactive badge-making activity. Visitors can also check out the museum library, where there will be readings of children’s books and a book sale.
Tours of the permanent displays and exhibitions
Also a key part of Museum Night are the permanent exhibitions and displays with interactive stations, which will be open during the entire event! What special activities can you look forward to?

The exhibition titled ‘On the Motorway to Prehistory – Northern Prácheňsko as a Transport Corridor over the Millennia’ allows visitors to learn about what South Bohemia looked like thousands of years ago and the historic routes used by people, goods, and ideas.
In the permanent exhibition titled ‘The Story of the City of České Budějovice’, visitors can also use the mobile app of the same name, which includes mini-games, quizzes, and augmented reality features. The ongoing natural history, archaeological, and ethnographic exhibition showcases the finest items from the museum’s collections. Additionally, there are plenty of interactive stations designed to entertain both children and adults alike.
The grand finale of the entire event will be a thrilling fire show ‘The Skipe’, presented by the Chůdadlo troupe outside the museum. You will also find refreshments, including both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available outside in front of the museum, where seating will be provided. The first-floor terrace will feature a popular pop-up café. Medical personnel will be on-site for supervision during the event.
