Savor Summer Vibes in Brno: ‘Wine from Nearby’ Launches New Season with Music and Merlot

The ‘Wine from Nearby’ festival will begin on 21 May 2026, starting its 14th season of wine evenings in Brno. This beloved event mixes Moravian wine, delightful food, live music, and beautiful locations and is significantly expanding its offerings this year. Besides the usual Open Garden, there will also be lovely evenings held at Špilberk Castle and at Arnold Villa.

Open-air wine evenings

Wine Up Close has for a long time emphasized the combination of quality wine, a cozy atmosphere, and beautiful venues in the heart of Brno. Guests can look forward to complimentary tastings, live music, excellent dining, and the opportunity to meet winemakers that represent individual Moravian regions. The events will be held from May to September, occurring every other Thursday.

The opening evening will focus on the Znojmo area, hosted by Marek Špalek, who has invited six wineries from the Znojmo sub-region. Throughout the summer, there will be visits from other notable figures in Moravian winemaking, including Štěpán Maňák from Slovácko, Jan Stávek from Velkopavlovice, and Miroslav Volařík from Mikulov.

New: Wine at Špilberk

One of the biggest new highlights of this season will be the wine evenings at Špilberk Castle. This is the festival’s first time at this location, and it will merge wine tastings with stunning nighttime views of Brno along with unique tours of the castle grounds. Guests will have the chance to discover places like the historic water towers while enjoying a glass of wine.

The ‘Wine over Brno’ evening will showcase winemakers from the Ekovín association, while other evenings will highlight light summer wines from the Czech Republic Wine Salon and conclude with a folklore evening called Wine in Traditional Costume, featuring a performance by the Ondráš ensemble.

Swing, the First Republic and Arnold’s Villa

Another exciting new location this season will be Arnold Villa. The ‘Wine to the Rhythm of Swing’ evening will transport visitors back to the ambiance of the First Republic and will blend wine, swing music, and stunning architecture.

This event will feature complimentary inside tours of the villa, as well as special guided tastings in an intimate environment. The organizers even encourage attendees to dress in outfits inspired by the First Republic.

Tickets for the Víno z blízka festival

The festival will provide two ticket options this year. The Standard ticket includes unlimited tastings, while the Premium ticket offers guided tastings led by prominent figures from the wine world for a deeper understanding of the various wine-growing areas.

Tickets can be purchased starting at 490 CZK during the early bird offer. The evenings will also include live music, food stalls, and a cultural program.

Wine Up Close reaffirms its position as one of the most unique summer wine events in Brno. It beautifully merges outstanding Moravian wines with architecture, history, music, and the wonderful atmosphere of summer nights.
