Step into Antiquity: Unmissable Experiences at the Gladius Ancient Festival!

The RomansIn a tranquil village on the outskirts of the mighty Empire, residents face the threat of relentless attacks from Roman legions. Now it’s time to seek out courageous fighters who are willing to confront the invaders with weapons in hand…

As part of the Gladius historical festival, various living history groups from around the country will showcase their work and help you learn about the military of the Roman legions, the ancient Celts, the Germanic tribes, and other cultures. You and your kids will have the chance to experience firsthand what the tough training of a legionary was like under the supervision of a strict centurion!

The RomansFor those not only interested in fighting, there will be fascinating insights into ancient professions – such as the Roman cook, military surveyor, or even the chance to experience life in a barbarian camp. The program at the Gladius Antiquity Festival will also offer you the chance to explore the land of an early medieval farmstead, known as the Curia Vitkov settlement. If you find yourself weary from the activities or if the weather isn’t pleasant, you can take a break at a nearby covered tavern.

Admission fees are 200 CZK for adults and 100 CZK for children under 15. The event will proceed rain or shine! Ticket prices cover the supporting program, fun activities for children, and a tour of the Curia Vitkov archaeological open-air museum. The all-day program (running from 10 am to 5 pm) will immerse you in a legionary camp, a gladiator school, or a camp of barbarian Celts and Germanic tribes. The funds raised from ticket sales will be used for the construction, maintenance, and operation of the archaeological open-air museum.
