Uncover the Wonders of Prague’s Jewish Museum This Sunday

You can join guided tours of Prague’s Jewish Town in Czech every Sunday at 11:00 and 14:00, as long as there are at least three people participating. This interesting tour, led by a certified guide from the Jewish Museum in Prague, lasts about 2.5 hours.
During the tour, you will discuss with the guide the rights and restrictions imposed on Jews, including what they were allowed and not allowed to do, and what hardships they faced compared to the general population. You will explore how the character of the Jewish quarter evolved over time and learn about concepts like ‘sanation’ and aspects of the ghetto that remain today. The guide will share stories about the difficult experiences of Jews in the 20th century and explain why there are only a few thousand Jews left in our country today. Throughout the tour, you’ll visit notable synagogues and the oldest existing Jewish cemetery in our nation. The cost for participating in the tour is 350 CZK, which includes access to the Old Jewish Cemetery, the Old-New Synagogue, the Maisel Synagogue, the Pinkas Synagogue, and the Spanish Synagogue. Students under 26 pay a reduced price of 230 CZK, while children aged 7 to 15 pay only 160 CZK.
In the Maisel Synagogue, built in the 16th century, your guide will explain the history of Jews in our country, from their arrival to their emancipation; at the 15th-century Pinkas Synagogue, you will commemorate the victims of the Holocaust and walk through the Old Jewish Cemetery, which features unique gravestones. You will also discover more about Jewish customs and traditions. The tour wraps up at the stunning Spanish Synagogue, admired for its remarkable Art Nouveau architecture. Additionally, don’t miss an exhibition showcasing the last 200 years of Jewish history in the Czech regions, where you can see Judaica and various three-dimensional displays, documents, films, and photographs.
This tour of Prague’s Jewish Quarter is organized by the Jewish Museum in Prague in partnership with the Prague Jewish Community, aiming to educate participants as part of a special initiative against anti-Semitism.
