Svojanov Castle Welcomes All Ages to a Magical Adventure

On the 30th and 31st of May 2026, everyone visiting Svojanov Castle can get excited about an event called Fairytale Svojanov, which is set to run from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm. During the tours, guests will meet various fairytale beings. Familiar Czech folk tales will be acted out along the tour paths by members of the Honorata association from Letohrad.
Interactions with fairy-tale characters will be engaging, meaning that those taking part in the tour should prepare to be part of the story. The tours cater to families with children as well as adults who enjoy the charm of fairy tales. No need to book ahead for these special tours; they will happen at fairly short intervals on both routes. For more information, feel free to reach out to us via email at [email protected] or by phone at 603 810 085.
Additionally, the gallery located in the outer bailey of Svojanov, which features a distinctive exhibition of puppet theatres, will also be animated by fairy tales. The theatre owners and puppeteers Libuška and Roman Bedřich Bauer from Josefov will bring the puppets to life through performances on both days. This puppet theatre exhibition will be available for viewing at Svojanov throughout the tourist season.
The Villa of the Czech Queens
Svojanov Castle is one of the most sought-after destinations in the Pardubice Region. It provides three different tour routes. Tour A takes you through the rooms of the 19th-century Empire-style palace, Tour B leads you to the medieval cellars, which include a torture chamber, and the Gothic-Renaissance armory that displays the everyday life of the castle’s garrison. Then there’s Tour C, which covers the outdoor areas that feature a Gothic garden and a viewing platform located at the top of the arrow tower.
Svojanov has made its mark in history as part of one of the longest conflicts in European history. Various armies traversed this region during the Thirty Years’ War, and unverified records suggest that the castle faced a siege at some point.
For guests attending the weekend event, the restaurant will be open, providing outdoor seating and refreshments in the relaxation area situated in the outer bailey. During the summer holidays, Svojanov Castle welcomes visitors daily, including Mondays, from 9 am to 6 pm.
