Discover the Stunning Ore Mountains: Join Us for the Final Summer Hike Before EURORANDO 2026!

This year, as summer draws to a close, the Ore Mountains will transform into a vibrant gathering spot for tourists across Europe. For one week in September, the EURORANDO festival will take center stage—an event that occurs only once every five years. This sixth edition is especially significant, as it marks the first cross-border celebration in its history, with the towns of Boží Dar and Kurort Oberwiesenthal as the main hubs. Additional partner cities like Jáchymov, Loučná pod Klínovcem, Johanngeorgenstadt, and Breitenbrunn have also curated a fantastic program for attendees.

The importance of this festival is highlighted by Tereza Hofmanová, Director of the Czech Tourism Authority – CzechTourism​, who stated: “EURORANDO is a wonderful opportunity for Czechia to not only showcase the Ore Mountains but also the region’s breathtaking natural beauty, the shared history of the Czech-Saxon relationship, UNESCO sites, as well as local traditions and cuisine. This event will elevate the profile of the Czech Republic as an outstanding destination for active vacations. Our country boasts more than 44,000 kilometers of hiking trails, and our world-renowned trail markings make it even more appealing. Plus, everything is conveniently close together—allowing you to venture into nature, explore historic sites, savor a delicious lunch, and perhaps wind down at a spa by evening. We’re seeing strong interest from foreign travelers, particularly those from Germany, Poland, and the Netherlands. Hiking remains popular among locals, as reflected in our recent survey on Czechs’ fall vacation plans.”

Currently, the organizers are putting the finishing touches on the festival’s schedule and visitor facilities. A total of 56 hiking trails have been planned—19 in the Czech Republic, 25 in Germany, and 12 cross-border trails, with 31 available to be explored with guides. The program will also include full-day sightseeing bus tours, visits to historic towns, mines, technical landmarks, scenic viewpoints, sports activities, rides on historic railroads, concerts, exhibitions, lectures, and markets offering regional products. Yet, EURORANDO is not solely about the miles walked; it’s about exploring the Ore Mountains together, uncovering history, and sharing experiences across borders. The central theme of the event is the Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří Mining Region, which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2019.

Thousands of participants will be welcomed by the organizers and a dedicated team of volunteers on-site. One such volunteer is Nicole Kilíková, who is traveling from Spain specifically for EURORANDO.

“I learned about the EURORANDO festival in 2023 from the Krušnohoří/Erzgebirge Destination Agency, which announced the Ore Mountains as the next festival location,” she explains. Her personal ties to the area inspired her involvement. “I truly love the Ore Mountains and always try to share their stories with those around me. I see my role as a guide and interpreter for international attendees as a remarkable opportunity to introduce this exceptional region to people from around the globe.”

One of the standout moments of the program will occur on Saturday, September 26, where the unveiling of the Stone Heart of Europe—crafted from stones participants bring from their home countries—will take place at the historic border between Boží Dar and Oberwiesenthal. Following this, a cross-border parade and the festival’s closing ceremony will be held.

Whether visitors wish to hike twenty kilometers, take a shorter trek, or simply soak in the enchanting atmosphere of the Ore Mountains during this seasonal shift, EURORANDO provides a unique opportunity to experience this region alongside fellow adventurers from all over Europe.

The next EURORANDO festival will be held from September 20 to 27, 2026. A single ticket is available online for 10 EUR, rising to 15 EUR during the event. The festival is organized by the Krušnohoří Destination Agency, the Erzgebirge Tourism Association, and the Czech Tourist Club—Ústí nad Labem Region, in collaboration with partner cities and municipalities, and is supported by the Interreg Saxony–Czech Republic 2021–2027 program.
